In 1981 Fernando Zóbel donated his collection of Spanish abstract art to the Juan March Foundation which, since then, has been the owner of the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art in Cuenca, where a large part of that collection is permanently exhibited, together with some other works later incorporated by the Foundation itself.

Likewise, in 1984, after his death, his nephews Georgina and Alejandro Padilla Zóbel handed over to the Juan March Foundation his daily sketchbooks and private library, at the express wish of Zóbel himself, on whose digitalization, cataloguing and enhancement work has been underway for some years now.
